So how did you guys meet?
We met in UiTM Lendu through a friend. At first we didn’t really talk much except just to exchange greetings and ‘How do you do’s?’. We really just started off as acquaintances and lost contact some time after that. But after a year or so we met each other again and hit-off as close friends because we bonded over a mutual situation. He was there to help me as I was there for him.
Slightly before graduating we got serious but were separated again because we had to study in different campuses. He was studying in Lendu and I was in Puncak Alam. So in order for us to meet each other on weekends I’d go to Malacca and meet up with him and some friends while he’d take the bus to meet me in Puncak Alam.
We didn’t think about getting married but we knew that whatever happens, we had to finish our studies first. Then at the end of 2016 we decided to get engaged so our parents met and the arrangements were done and we got engaged on 26 August 2017.
Here’s a trivia, I really wanted to get married on 18 August 2018. It’s also my mother’s birthday so the date really has a lot of meaning to me.
What’s your first impression of each other?
I thought that she was a very kind-hearted person. She’s also easy going and gets along well with people. Also, she’s extremely generous and is a person who helps others without expecting a return.
At first I thought he was shy and quiet but he can be an unexpected joker at times. I also kind of found him annoying but it turned out that’s the thing I love the most about him.
A personality of your significant other that you like the most?
Well, like I said, she’s very generous. She’s always smiling, always helping people and definitely gets along well with others. Also, my mum really likes her personality too!
How he’s always doing something unexpected and taking me by surprise. Sometimes he’ll make a joke out of the blue or pull out a surprise out of nowhere! He also takes care of others and cares about a lot of those who knows him.
Most memorable memory together?
Going to the Coldplay concert last year! We’re both festival heads and we really like going to these kind of events.
Also, remember how I said that he’s an unpredictable person full of surprises? Well, once on my birthday, our friends and us went to Perhentian Island and I really thought that there wouldn’t be a celebration. So when he asked me to walk along the beach with him that night, I thought nothing of it. Little did I know that a few walks down the shore would lead me to an arrangement of candles in a heart-shape!
Not to mention that there was also another time where he surprised me by appearing from thin air! I’m joking with the thin air, of course. It was also on my birthday and he was away in Malacca. We had a fight because I was upset that he was away on my birthday so I just went out with my friends to a rooftop place in Damansara. As I reached the roof, I was greeted by my other friends singing the birthday song! It was then that he appeared from the crowd and I really couldn’t believe my eyes. He was behind it with my friends all along!
Is there a song that you consider your song?
Above & Beyond’s Sun & Moon as well as Satellite. These two songs really touched our hearts. There was a time when we were listening to it and when we were looking at each other, he suddenly cried. That really makes the song much more meaningful to us.
What is something that reminds you of the other?
Coldplay. Whenever I listen to Coldplay, it reminds me of her. There’s a lot of things that we share when it comes to Coldplay. The band really just means Naddy to me.
Hopes and dreams for the future together?
Well, since we’re both the only child in the family I really hope to have children one day! I want my parents, especially my mum, to have grandchildren and not feel lonely. So that would be a very nice gift for them.
Also, I run a travel agency with my mum so I hope that our business will expand in the future. With Khairi with me, I really hope that together we’ll be able to take the business further. If he plans to open up a business some time in the future, I’ll help him out in ways that I can too.
Yep. Definitely to grow together as not only husband and wife but also as life-long partners. I’ll be her backbone to support her unconditionally.
To be with each other through good and bad times is definitely important. We went through a lot for the past 6 years of being together and we still held on strong. So to bring that sort of strength and passion for life is definitely something that I want to remain with us throughout this relationship.
I also hope for us to be together until the end of times. Because when we’re married, we’re partners for life and I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. Also I hope that with our marriage, we’ll continue to be blessed by the good grace of Allah S.W.T and our parents so that really is something I am eternally grateful for.
